SPANISH CLASSES: QUITO, ECUADOR

Our Spanish classes are designed to get you to intermediate level of Spanish in 4-6 weeks. At this level, you will be comfortable traveling, ordering food and enjoying conversations with those that you meet. Speaking Spanish will greatly enhance your stay in South America. Learning the language in a Spanish speaking country means that you are able to absorb it every hour of the day. Many students like to take advantage of our Homestay program to increase the learning potential. At a discounted price of US$155 (includes 3 meals a day and laundry) for those enrolling in a 4 week Spanish course, it represents excellent value for money.

THE CLASSES

Before classes begin, you will take a short evaluation test. No one fails this. It's simply a question of assessing your level of Spanish so that your instruction begins at the right level. A plan of study that incorporates your goals and needs is put together with your teacher. At least once per week, you visit a park or museum with your teacher to practice the language. We recommend 4 hours of instruction per day, although it is possible to take up to 6 hours. Classes start on any weekday, but its better if you are able to begin on a Monday. The morning session is from 08:30 to 12:30 and the afternoon session is from 13:00 to 17:00. A 20 minute break in the middle of classes is taken.

SOCIAL ASPECTS

There are many opportunities to get to know other people on this course. Apart from the 20-minute break, when you can drink some coffee or tea with delicious fresh-baked bread, there is time outside of class to hang out with other students. We also send you a full information pack that contains popular meeting places for English speakers, just in case you need to hear a different language for an evening!

ACCOMMODATION

For those not wishing to take part in the home stay program, we are able to arrange accommdation in a hostel at a cost of US$25-40 per night.

The following costs are based on 4 hours study a day and include registration fees.

Program cost for 1 week - US$220

Program cost for 2 weeks - US$420

Program cost for 4 weeks - US$820

Program cost for 6 weeks - US$1,220

Program cost for 8 weeks - US$1,620

TRAVEL AND MEDICAL INSURANCE

All those taking Spanish classes are required to purchase travel and medical insurance for the duration of their stay. We strongly recommend that minimum coverage includes the following:

  • Medical expenses - US$10 million
  • Personal liability - US$2 million
  • Personal accident - US$40,000
  • Personal property - US$3,000
  • Loss of Passport etc - US$1,000
  • Legal expenses etc - US$40,000
  • Cancellation etc - US$6,000
